Lautna Privacy Policy

Last updated 23 June 2026. Lautna is a not for profit service that helps reunite missing people, pets, and belongings with their families.

This policy explains what information Lautna collects, why, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the Lautna website or mobile apps you agree to this policy.

Who we are

Lautna is operated as a not for profit initiative. For any privacy question or request, contact us at privacy@lautna.org.

Information we collect

We only collect what is needed to help reunite people, pets, and belongings:

We do not require you to create a personal account to search or post. Administrator accounts use an email and password for the review team only.

How we use information

What is public and what stays private

Approved reports show a photo, description, general location, and status. The following are never shown publicly and are visible only to the review team and verified responders:

Found person reports

Reports about vulnerable people found on the street, in shelters, or in hospitals are handled with extra care. They are reviewed before publishing, precise locations are kept private, and we act to protect the dignity and safety of the person. Anyone can ask us to remove such a report by contacting us.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data and we do not show advertising. We share information only with verified responders or relevant authorities when needed to reunite a person, pet, or item, or where required by law. We use Supabase as our hosting and database provider to store reports securely.

Data retention

Reports are kept while they are active. When a case is resolved or a report is found to be inaccurate, it is archived or removed. You can ask us to delete a report you submitted at any time.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, or delete information you submitted, and you can withdraw a report. To make a request, email privacy@lautna.org. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU GDPR and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act.

Children

Reports about missing children are posted by adults seeking help. The app is not intended for use by children to create accounts. We handle any data about minors with particular care and minimise what is shown publicly.

Permissions we request

You can decline these permissions and still use most of the app.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service grows. We will post the new version here with an updated date.

For privacy requests, takedowns, or questions, contact privacy@lautna.org. We aim to respond within a reasonable time.
